What if there wasn’t Twitter?

When I first signed up for Twitter, I saw it as a nice way to connect with folks. As time went on and I began to form businesses, I saw Twitter as a marketing tool. When the followings/followers build and I found great recipes, jokes, and the like, Twitter became a blessing to me. Wow, the uses for Twitter!

I saw an article a fellow tweeple (twitter people) wrote about what if he didn’t have Twitter. He pointed out how it helped him succeed without really trying. I decided to elaborate on what if there wasn’t Twitter for myself:

What if there wasn’t Twitter?

*I would not have met techno savvy people like @AskAaronLee @mashable @unmarketing @WhyGeorge @mlomb and others who gives us tips on making Twitter better for us.

*I would not have been able to retweet great tweets, quotes, funny jokes and news that is important to daily life; then learn a thing or two about myself.

*I would not have met awesome people like @RadioAlexander @DinaYeager @joeygiggles @DollaRise @Asis_Capo @RevRunWisdom @LarryBlanken and the list goes on and on. I thank goodness for my tweeples.

*I would not have learned about trying samples for products I truly wanted to try; thank you @CommnSenseMoney !

*I would not have been able to help new tweeples starting out get noticed. It’s a blessing to help others as you help yourself.

*I would not have found Twaitter, Tweetdeck, Twitseeker or Twitlonger to make my Twitter lifestyle easier!

The list continues, yet I will let you respond to this with your thoughts! Twitter is here to stay folks, despite the ‘hating’ from those who find social media a pain or just don’t understand it. Let me hear what you have to say. Keep tweeting!!

Minding Your Own Business?

As we see a big emergence of business owners, each one has a task of determining how to take care of business. I believe that focus and persistence are some of the main keys to business success. So by applying these two elements, we can’t do but mind our own business.

I find though that lots of business owners spend more time peeping at the ‘competition’. They ask questions about what the competition is doing and how they are doing it. This takes great energy off their business. Not counter productive at all.

I remember the elders and their amazing sayings. One stands in particular which says; “When you mind your own business, then you won’t have time to be tending to other folks business.” So true. This doesn’t just pertain to your personal life, but your professional business as well.

Yes, we are responsible for creating an effective business, as well as educating ourselves through business tools for success. What gets in the way is when business owners worry about others business operations to the point of discounting them with put downs (and in lots of cases, down right lies). In the end, it just doesn’t work, period.

What type of business owner are you? Are you the person who stays focused and determined to be successful? Or are you the person who won’t mind their own business and fall flat?

It’s all up to you. Your comments and constructive criticisms are welcomed.

Much success and prosperity to you.

Business As Usual?

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

A New Year and what are you doing for yourself and your business? Are you implementing goals to get the job done in your business and personal life? Are you setting intentions to focus and build foundations that will create strong connections? Do you want your business to be as usual or are you ready for an upgrade? Some thing to think about…

With the decline of jobs and businesses around the country, people are taking their livelihood into their own hands by creating their own business from home. People want businesses doing things they love, not to just have a business. Actions are being taken to fill niches that most existing businesses don’t even do and more are being built as you read this.

What comes to mind for me is authenticity. Can we business owners really practice this despite the ‘socalled’ recession and still succeed? Can we bring to out customers products and services that won’t compromise our integrity or will we choose to compete just to get the dollars in our pockets? Will our businesses be as usual?

I welcome your comments and thank you!

To Budget or Not to Budget…You know the answer!!

When running an at home business, one must consider what is priority and what is not. For one, you are number one because in my previous blog I maintained that YOU are your business. Money must be number two because you need money to run your business. Whether its getting office supplies, printer paper or postage, you must be prepared to spend. It is one of the main reasons that businesses fail…money! So lets discuss the subject of budgeting in your business.

I can hear some cringe in horror at the fact of having to account for every penny they spend. Ok so you are the owner and feel like you need to spend on that state of the art computer; when the one you have is working fine.. What about having your umpteenth credit card “to build your credit worthiness” even though you don’t need it. Or what about taking another seminar on building your business and buying more tapes and cd’s even though the ones you already have haven’t been used. I could go on but you get the idea.

As money flows into the business, one must consider not only the expenses of the business, but your personal expenses as well. Remember, you took a leap of faith and left that job that nearly drove you to drink (no rehab needed) so we must look at the long haul in spending.

Get a piece of paper and draw a line down the middle. On one side put personal expenses, on the other business expenses. Write down the must pay for in both sections such as in personal (rent, utilities, etc); in business (business credit cards, office supplies, etc). Be sure to include savings for both because you will always need money on hand (some call it an emergency fund). You pretty much know how to do it; I have faith in you to do it correctly. No, you don’t include in the budget for a new outfit or bling and the money is definitely not there. Delay gratification people!!

To budget or not to budget…you know the answer! It helps you to really see where your money goes and how your business is going. I am open to suggestions from other business owners about budgeting…I think entrepreneurs rock! :-)

You are your business!

Those who start businesses do all they can to get customers from internet to networking to just out right shouting from the rooftops (just kidding) that they are in business. They think that doing all of those things will send customers in droves….maybe…then maybe not.

What one must understand that regardless of what is done to solicit business, the owner must work on the most important thing that can determine success or failure–themselves. I know what you are thinking, sure I must kiss up to people to get them to buy from me or nearly sell my first born child (for those who want and have children; for those who don’t perhaps their dog or cat!!). No, no, no!! Working on yourself means believing in your capabilities of being a great business person, staying focused and let go of distractions (no, no video games during your office hours!!) and watch your spending in business (no, no cocktail hour with a client!!). It is very important that the inner matches the outer when balancing your life and even your business. What things can you do to create a great you while building your business? Send me your comments and I will definitely look them over. Who knows, they can help me!!!
